Commentary on the radical "山"
Many of the kanji with the radical "山" are related to children.
e.g.
岐 → 山 + 支
For example, the character 岐 means "forked road".
The part of "支" means "branch".
From there, "岐" means a branch or fork in the mountain.
崎 → 山 + 奇
The part of "奇" means someone who lacks average and is crooked.
From there, it means a crooked or sloping mountain.
In Japan, it is used to mean a mountain (cape) that lacks average and juts out into the sea.
As you can see, kanji with "山" has many meanings related to mountains.
