Commentary on the radical "足"
Many kanji with the radical "足" refer to the names of various parts of the foot, as well as to foot-related actions and conditions.
e.g.
跡 → 脚 + 亦
The part of "亦" has the meaning of "to accumulate".
The two together represent "accumulated footprints".
In other words, it means "traces, footprints".
路 → 足 + 各
The part of "各" means "to come to".
The two together represent "the path one takes when walking".
In other words, it means "path, road".
