【糸】Ito-hen
Commentary on the radical "糸"
Many kanji with the radical "糸" are related to various kinds of threads and yarns, their properties and conditions, the actions of using them, weaving threads, textiles, textile patterns, and so on.
e.g.
紙 → 糸 + 氏
The part of "氏" represents "crushed texture".
The two together represent "a flattened and smoothed out fiber by crushing the grain of the fiber".
In other words, it represents "paper".
紛 → 糸 + 分
The part of "分" means "divide (into)".
The two together represent "a thread that has split and will not come together".
In other words, it expresses the meaning of "be disarrayed".
