【戸】To-dare, To-kammuri
Commentary on the radical "戸"
Many Kanji with "戸" as a radical are related to doors, dwellings, and items attached to dwellings.
e.g.
所 → 戸 + 斤
The part of "戸" represents the shape of an entrance door.
The part of "斤" represents the shape of an axe.
The two together represent an entrance with an axe, etc.
In ancient China, it meant a place for a person of high status.
From there, it came to mean a place.
扉 → 戸 + 非
The "戸" represents a door.
The "非" means to divide into left and right.
The two together represent a double swinging door.
