How to read 月
① Onyomi (Chinese reading)
The on-readings are
・がつ gatsu
・げつ getsu
For example,
・一月 ichi-gatsu いちがつ
January
・満月 man-getsu まんげつ
full moon
・生年月日 sē-nen-gappi せいねんがっぴ
the birth of date
・今月 kon-getsu こんげつ
this month
・月曜日 getsu-yō-bi げつようび
monday
and so on.
② Kunyomi (Japanese reading)
Next is the kun-reading.
It’s read as
・つき tsuki
・づき zuki
For example,
・月日 tsuki-hi つきひ
years or days
・月並み tsuki-na-mi つきなみ
common
・毎月 mai-tsuki まいつき
every month
・年月 nen-getsu ねんげつ
years、month and year
・睦月 mu-tsuki むつき
January（it’s a traditional name.）
However, this is not used in daily life.
