How to read 火

① Onyomi (Chinese reading)

The on-reading is

か jitsu

For example,
・火曜日 ka-yō-bi かようび
 Tuesday
・火事 ka-ji かじ
 conflagration
・火山 ka-zan かざん
 volcano
and so on.

② Kunyomi (Japanese reading)

Next is the kun-reading.
It’s read as

・ひ hi
・び bi
・ほ ho

For example,
・火元 hi-moto ひもと
 origin of fire
・花火 hana-bi はなび
 fireworks
・火影 ho-kage ほかげ
 firelight
and so on.

③ Special reading

Next is a special reading.

・火傷 やけど
 a burn
 It is usually written in hiragana.
 火傷をした I got burned.
