【瓦】Kakeru, Akubi
Commentary on the radical "瓦"
Many of the kanji characters in the radical "瓦" are related to earthenware and ceramics.
In Japan, it also represents "g (grams)" and has characters related to the "gram" unit (t, kg, g, mg, etc.).
e.g.
瓶 → 并+ 瓦
The part of "并" means "to align, match."
The two together represent a "earthenware jar" made by combining two halves made from the same mold.
Today, it is generally used to mean "jar, bottle."
