【阝】Kozato-hen【阜】Oka
Commentary on the radical "阝 or 阜"
"阝 (Kozato-hen), 阜 (Oka)" is related to landforms associated with hills and dales.
The radical "阝" is the form when "阜 (hill)" becomes "hen".
It has the same shape as the radical "阝 (ōzato)", but the radical "阝 (kozato-hen)" is the part on the left side of the Kanji character.
e.g.
防 → 阝 + 方
