【酉】Tori-hen, Hiyomi-no-tori, Sake-no-tori
Commentary on the radical "酉"
Many kanji with the radical "酉" are related to alcoholic beverages and other fermented foods and liquors.
e.g.
酒 → 氵 + 酉
The part of "酉" is a character that represents "a sake (liquor) pot".
The part of "氵" is the form when "水 (water)" becomes "Hen (偏)".
This represents "water".
Later, "氵" was added to "酉" to indicate the meaning of "liquor".
配 → 酉 + 己
The part of "己" stands for "person".
The two together represent "a person arranging liquor pots".
In other words, it means "to arrange".
