In this time, I will introduce the Kanji character .

How to read

① Onyomi (Chinese reading)

The on-readings are
・しゅ shu
・す su

For example,
主人 しゅじん shu-jin
It means (one's) master, husband

主婦 しゅふ shu-fu
It means housewife

君主 くんしゅ kun-shu
It means monarch

自主 じしゅ ji-shu
It means independence
自主的 じしゅてき ji-shu-teki
It means independent, voluntary

主権 しゅけん shu-ken
It means sovereignty

民主 みんしゅ min-shu
It means democracy
民主主義 みんしゅしゅぎ min-shu shu-gi
It also means democracy
主義 means principle

and so on.

② Kunyomi (Japanese reading)

Next, the kun-reading is
・ぬし nushi
・おも omo

For example,
 ぬし nushi
It means owner

 おも omo
It means mainly

and so on.

③ Special reading

Next is a special reading.
 あるじ aruji
It means head (of a household)

Meanings
